5.4 "Why Major" Essay
While everyone might say they’re passionate about a major, specifics make you stand out. Instead of generic enthusiasm, provide targeted examples. I don’t have too much to say here but an example will show you the meaning “Just like what you have to do.”
Example:
Rather than simply stating, "I want to study Computer Science," I mentioned my excitement about discovering Data Structures classes with Professor Matthews (a real famous professor on campus” and participating in Student Research Sessions (SRS). I expressed interest in working alongside Professor Lu in his optimization research and engaging with Professor Levy’s drones and robots in Tech Club. My narrative was deeply personal, connecting a childhood passion with detailed university opportunities.
